Freeride World Tour
Since Pizca started, there was one client we kept bringing up. The Freeride World Tour. It is where the two things this whole project grew from meet: the mountains, snowboarding most of all, and cooking for people. Whenever we talked with friends about what we would do once Pizca got big, it came back to the same line. Imagine when we cook for the Freeride World Tour.
Then one day an email from the Freeride World Tour landed in our inbox, signed by Johnny. First thought: spam. It couldn't be them. Long story short, it was them. They wanted to celebrate two things with their team: the launch of the Freeride series, and freeride becoming an Olympic sport.
We worked it out with Johnny and Ithier. October 1st, 100 guests: the whole staff, plus people who used to work with the tour. The menu had to work standing up, so people could eat, talk and move around at the same time. And it all had to happen between 7 and 8 pm, because at 8 everyone was going to watch the avant-première of the first episode.
We cooked it with Octa and Pablito (our newbie) at the FWT villa in Pully, just outside Lausanne. They met us with beers (which we OF COURSE declined…), and from the first minute it felt like cooking for friends.
The menu: chickens hanging over the fire, entraña, pumpkin fondue, and plenty of vegetarian dishes, which was the thing they asked for most.
It rained the whole time. Despite that, we made sure everything ran smoothly and, as Ithier put it, there were "full smiles all around."
By 8, everyone was at the avant-première with a full belly and a happy heart.
October 1st was a big day not only for the FWT team but also for Pizca, as we got to cook for our idols.
Thank you,
Pancho
